Training and Workforce
The core of the Hope initiative will create 25-30 jobs and apprenticeships centering on a broad range of food industry jobs, including grocery operations, butchering, prepared foods, and catering. With job readiness and workforce development for in-store positions commencing in the spring of 2021, the 12- to 18-month training program is designed to move participants into higher skill operational positions with commensurate salary increases. Though jobs through the initiative will be paid at entry level, the program will enable participants to actively learn skills while building inner strength, resources, and hope for future success.
Assessment and skill gap identification will be prioritized to anticipate and provide necessary training and support services. Participants will gain responsibility and increased pay as their experience and skills training progress, and apprenticeships will provide opportunities for working in partnership with other businesses and academic organizations. At the conclusion of the training, jobs will be secured with our industry partners and other area employers, both in food and non-food organizations. Selected trainees will be asked to become leaders and mentors for the next group of trainees entering the program.
